  • That breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women 25 – 54 years of age?
  • That Pennsylvania has the fourth highest breast cancer rate in the nation?
  • That over 330 Women in Westmoreland County are diagnosed with breast cancer each year?

Westmoreland Walks, Inc.:  Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer, a 5K walk will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 10:00 A.M.  Walkers may choose to participate in teams or individually.  All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and also provide an opportunity for Westmoreland County women who have been recently diagnosed with breast cancer to enjoy a full day of spa services.

MAIL-IN OR ONLINE REGISTRATION – Deadline Saturday, September 6, 2007 - $20.00
Packets can be picked up at the upper level of JC Penney’s in Westmoreland Mall on Friday, September 14th from 5pm to 8pm or on Saturday, September 15th from 10am to 5pm or at the Registration Tent on the day of the event. Download and print 2007 brochure and pre-registration form.

WALK-IN REGISTRATION – Friday, September 14 and Saturday, September 15, 2007 - $25.00
Stop by the upper level of JC Penney’s in Westmoreland Mall and register with us on Friday, September 14th from 5pm to 8pm or Saturday, September 15th from 10am and 5pm and you will leave with your Registration packet in hand!

EVENT DAY REGISTRATION – Saturday, October 6, 2007 - $30.00
You are still able to register with us at the Registration Tent on Event Day!  The fee is $30 and you will receive your materials at the time of registration.  Availability of t-shirts may be limited.

On event day, parking will be available only at the Twin Lakes County Park – a lot will be reserved for Westmoreland Walks participants next to the East Parking Area (look for the pink balloons!)  A shuttle service will drive all participants to Aestique Medical Center and Spa and drop off at the registration and pledge donation tents.   We will begin our walk at Aestique and travel downhill onto Lewis Road, across Donohoe Road towards Twin Lakes and around both lakes, concluding at Pavilion #2 where refreshments will be served and goodie bags will be distributed.

All Breast Cancer Survivors will be designated by a pink t-shirt and will be honored at the “Celebration of Life” activities preceding the walk.
